Halloween Contact Lenses

Here at Alan Tyler we all look forward to getting the practice dressed up for Halloween. But ahead of this year’s spooktacular we would like to share a word of warning when thinking about putting together your halloween costume…

We’re sure that you’ve been working hard to perfect your 2019 Halloween look, and whilst you might be thinking that the addition of some spooky contact lenses could be the icing on the cake for this year’s scary outfit, it is worth considering that the popularity of these Halloween contact lenses is becoming an increasing cause of concern amongst eye surgeons.

Many have found that the wearers of these coloured lenses are at increased risk of metal poisoning and a host of other eye conditions, including swelling, infection and even vision loss. It is important that you are aware that whilst these lenses are readily available, in some cases they can be extremely dangerous. Unlike regular prescription lenses, these novelty lenses are not regulated by UK Law.

If you really want to wear special contact lenses this year, please be sure to buy them from a reputable company and seek advice before wearing them.
